PHRYGIA. Hierapolis. Valerian I, 253-260. AE (Orichalcum, 33 mm, 17.41 g, 5 h), Homonoia issue with Smyrna. AY•K ΠOY•ΛIK•OYA/ΛЄΡIANOC Laureate and cuirassed bust of Valerian I to right, cuirass decorated with aegis. Rev. IЄΡAΠOΛЄITΩN K ZMYPNЄΩN (sic!) NЄΩKOΡΩN / OMONOΥA (sic!) On the left, Serapis of Hierapolis standing right, holding scepter in his left hand and wearing kalathos, facing Nemesis of Smyrna standing left, wearing kalathos and with wheel at feet, both sacrificing over altar. Franke & Nollé 90. Very rare. Two pits on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
